Great Spirit Day
Observed on the Summer Solstice, Great Spirit’s Day is a solemn holiday dedicated to revering the Great Spirit and honoring mothers. Celebrations involve fasting, prayers, special meals, and traditional dances performed only on this day. Many people also take solitary journeys into the wilderness, reflecting on resilience and gratitude. Violence is strictly forbidden, and no Makasing nation has waged war on this day in over 400 years.
