Range & Chase

Range is the abstract concept of differences in distance between two Characters or objects.

The Ranges

  • Short Range: Within 1 Move Action, melee range, close
    • A Character in Short Range using two Move Actions is now in Medium Range, or two Characters moving in opposite directions using one Move Action are now in Medium Range
  • Medium Range: Within 2 Move Actions, Ranged Weapons, near
    • A Character in Medium Range using four Move Actions is now in Long Range, or if two Characters move in opposite directions using two Move Actions are now in Long Range.
  • Long Range: Within 4 Move Actions, ranged weapons, far
    • A Character in Long Range using four Move Actions is now out of Range and out of the Encounter. Using four Move Actions towards a target is now in in Medium Range.

Chase and Escape

In a chase the Characters make Contested Athletics or Piloting Checks. Changing Range requires the following Success differences:

  • Keeping target in Short Range or moving away to Medium Range: 2 Success Difference
  • Keeping target in Medium Range or moving away it Long Range: 4 Success Difference
  • Keeping target in Long Range or escaping: 8 Success Difference
